Concern is rising among many adults trying to maintain a healthy weight without dieting to the point of constant hunger. The importance of exercise regarding a healthy diet cannot be ignored. The lack of a quality exercise plan, will result in not being able to maintain your optimum weight and will not allow for long term weight loss.
Virtually all diets can help lose weight over the short term. Cutting back on calories while maintaining a routine schedule will certainly allow some weight loss, in the short term.
Why dieting alone will not work
Problems with this type approach will begin as eventually you will become bored with the same calorie restricted diet foods, and when you change your eating habits the weight will return. More dangerous is that many yo-yo dieters gain more weight than was lost, making it more difficult to lose the weight again. Research suggests that this type of varying weight gain and weight loss is more dangerous over time than being overweight. The key to a healthy diet will always be exercise.
Exercise should be an integral part of all healthy diet programs, as it will be difficult to obtain the desired results through dieting alone.The need for excessive exercising is not needed to maintain your optimum weight. Statistics show that a significant increase in overall health are obtained by exercising as little as 3 times a week, for 20 minutes per session. By taking a walk around the block a couple of times, 3 or 4 times a week can result in an amazing amount of health benefits.
Exercise Smart in the Beginning
A more strenuous exercise program can always remain an option, the importance of starting out slowly is one to pay attention to. Severe set backs can result if a more advanced exercise program is introduced to quickly, along with an increased possibility of injury.For those times it is too hot, too cold or too rainy to walk or exercise in the greatoutdoors, there are many pieces of exercise equipment on the market today. Stationary bikes, treadmills, new age elliptical trainers, and stair steppers are just some of the superior machines that can be purchased.
While shopping for an in home exercise machine, be sure you spend your money wisely. Purchase a piece of equipment that will be utilized, not put in a closet or sit idle in a spare room. Exercise equipment that is too cumbersome, not built well, or is to difficult to exercise on often end up as storage racks for clothing.
An additional option is to join you local health club, although there will be monthly dues to pay, the added health advantages will be worth it. Along with a variety of exercises and exercise machines available, access to personal training, a steam room or sauna, and a whirlpool for recuperating should also be included.
Regardless of where you get your exercise, your exercise equipment, taking a walk or going for a run, the local health club or health spa, its is most important that you start immediately. The quicker an exercise program is incorporated into your daily routine, the sooner you will be able to see the rewards of your efforts.
